Philip Scot needs a job desperately, but who will employ this idiot?
Why, the worst job Agency in town of course...
Humiliatoin, Destruction, and Mayhem abound as he staggers from one disaster to another.

No deep Message - just Belly laughs - Guaranteed!

What is it?

The Stand in is a fast moving visual comedy suitable for all ages, lasting 45 minutes. It contains scenes with music, sound effects and recorded voices and no live speaking! There is no scenerey but many props and lightening changes of costume.

Who is it for?

The show really has been enjoyed by people of every age, from the tittering toddler to the giggling geriatric and even the most cynical teenagers have their cool to have a laugh! It is closest to theatre, it is NOT Stand up or cabaret. It requires a focus of attention and is therefore unsuitable for bars or floating audiences i.e. the street or exhibitions.

History of the show

It was written in March 2001 and performed at the Edinburgh festival to good houses and obtained reviews from The Stage and The Scotsman .

It was next performed at the Golden Beaks Comedy Festival in Bridgnorth in 2006 where it won the Adjudicators discretionary award for excellence in writing and performance

After further development ( omitting the laughter psychologist scene) It was performed at the Dovehouse Theatre in Solihull to delighted local audiences, during an evening of 3 comedy plays.

The Future

The show is highly portable, easily adaptable; more scenes can be added and developed. Most exciting is that with the voice recordings translated and re recorded into any language – the world is ready and waiting to be amused by the blunderings of Phillip Scott.
Combined with “Dad Almighty” the sequel it will provide a full evening of seat staining entertainment.

Phillip is a delightful creation, capable of many possibilities on his own on stage but combined with a partner perhaps or a supporting or ensemble cast or on film the comedy potential becomes nearly infinite…..
